Life After Kane

It's been quiet, but the Orson Welles fandom is about to be shaken up by two upcoming releases. First is next month's Criterion DVD release of Mr. Arkadin, which includes 3 different cuts of the film. Quite a step up from the crummy VHS public domain release that I paid $2 for several years ago. Second is the biography Orson Welles: Hello Americans. The biographer is Simon Callow, an actor whose first Welles biography was Orson Welles: The Road to Xanadu. That biography covered Welles' birth up to 1941. This second biography covers the year from 1941 to 1948. Amazingly both biographies are 600+ pages. I guess that means that Callow had better hurry up if he is ever going to finish his writing on Welles, as he has 37 more years to cover!
