Last night was a tad on the dull side. After some time to think about it, the dullness was probably the result of a lack of excitement about the opening movie. Normally it is a race to the good seats once they start letting people in...we raced up there, only to find that we did not have much competition. The movie exceeded expectations, but then the after-movie discussion was boring, as Marnie Nixon went into too much detail that often had nothing to do with the actual movie. And unlike previous years, the weather was nice, but somewhat drab compared to standing in line while a full-blown severe thunderstorm moves through.
I expect today to be different, though thunderstorms are not in the offing. Perusing the official blog, it appears that John Malkovich is already at the festival. Malkovich went to school at Eastern Illinois University and Illinois State University, so perhaps he is no stranger to Champaign.
